Dedicated to Service

The Reading Fire Department provides a full range of services to more than 11,000 citizens in the City of Reading and the Village of Arlington Heights including fire suppression, emergency medical services, specialized rescue, hazardous materials response, and other emergency responses. The department also provides emergency medical services to the residents of Amberley Village.

In addition, the department provides community risk reduction programs to all ages within the city and village. The department also conducts fire inspections, plan reviews, and fire investigations.

RFD’s personnel consist of career and part-time personnel that protect life, property, and the environment in pursuit of the Department’s mission and vision.

The department provides staffing for two ambulances, one district unit, and an engine company in the station 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. Callbacks are utilized to request additional personnel to respond to the station for fire assignments and multiple EMS or fire calls.

The Department comprises 4 Divisions: Administration, Community Risk Reduction, Fire-Rescue Operations, and Training.
