We are proud to announce that our new training facility is now complete. This facility is located at the Reading Service Department, and is constructed from repurposed shipping containers. It is designed to serve as a versatile space where our firefighters can hone essential skills to better serve our community.
With this new facility, we will be able to engage in critical training exercises, including live fire attack, search and victim removal, understanding fire behavior, firefighter rescue operations (RAT), ladder skills, firefighter survival, and more. This facility was established in response to the need for a dedicated training space within the City of Reading, offering our firefighters an on-site location for continuous training, both on and off duty.
Construction on this facility began on August 26th, 2024, and was completed on October 29th, 2024. This project would not have been possible without the dedicated support of E&J Trailer, Alro Steel, JF Berns Company Inc., The City of Reading Service Department, and the many members of the Reading Fire Department who volunteered countless hours of their own time to bring this vision to life.
Thank you to everyone involved for making this critical resource a reality for our department and our community.
