Facilities & Apparatus

The Reading Fire Department serves our community and contracted areas from two stations.  Station 83 (Valley Station), located at 1000 Market St., is staffed 24 hours a day by a combination of career and part-time personnel. The administrative division is also located at this station. Station 84 (Hilltop Station), located at 601 E. Columbia Ave., is staffed with off-duty personnel when the need arises.

The department is equipped with a diverse fleet of specialized pieces of apparatus to ensure effective and timely responses to emergencies. This includes engine companies and an aerial ladder truck, each designed to handle specific needs such as fire suppression, technical rescues, and hazardous material incidents. In addition to the fire engines that transport personnel and equipment, the department has medic units dedicated to emergency medical services, providing critical care during transport. The apparatus and medic units are located between the two stations, ensuring the department is ready to respond to emergencies of varying complexity, day or night, with the appropriate tools and personnel on hand. Each piece of equipment is regularly maintained and equipped with state-of-the-art technology to serve the community with the highest standards of safety and efficiency.
